space toggles the sidebar instead of play/pause

Sometimes pressing space plays or pauses as expected, but other times it toggles the sidebar instead. Once it starts, it persists until the app is relaunched. Keyboard focus is landing on the sidebar control rather than routing space through to playback. Reported by Nikolaï via email.
